A great concept. . .Blog Traffic. We were looking for gems and found the following:
1. Use the 80/20 Rule – Don’t work on everything. Work on the stuff that works
2. Network Like A Boss – Find 10 bloggers you want to impress and comment on their stuff (use Feed Demon to keep track of their latest posts), Give them social media love,Join their list, Compliment them, Set up a conversation via Skype or email to solidify the relationship. [THIS IS AN INTERESTING SUGGESTION. . . LET’S NOT DO THIS UNLESS WE HAVE OUR BLOG UP, HAVE A METHOD BY WHICH PEOPLE CAN OPTIN TO OUR WORLD AND WE’RE SERVING THE AUDIENCE ON SITE. THIS IS A GOOD TACTIC, BUT DOES PROLONG INCOME]
3. Prepare to Work Hard
4. Use Systems to make your work easier like Google Analytics
5. Build a site so the audience knows what you want them to do (ie comment, join email, buy a product)
6. Use Social Sharing Buttons
7. Use a link shortener to make your links more presentable [ODD TRAFFIC SUGGESTION]
8. Use the “Click to Tweet” functions
9. Use a welcome Splash Page or Hello Bar to increase conversions
10. Like gating [NEVER DO THIS WITH FACEBOOK. IT IS AGAINST THEIR TOS]
11. Gravatar – use your likeness so others know you are real
12. Write awesome content (make it easy to scan, add multimedia, provide examples, include quotable content)
13. Promote – email, leverage friends, post to social media, add to stumble upon, bookmark, niche related forums,
14. Write guest posts in places that will build your audience
15. Build a large Twitter audience (follow targeted people, unfollow unresponsive people)
16. Use YouTube
17. Podcast
I felt like this was an elementary level book, and a bit too broad to go into anything in any detail. But if you’re looking for the basics, this is probably OK.
